Working for a furniture company, one of the most prevalent questions
asked is ….. “How do you properly adjust/size a chair”? The
following techniques are very simple but will make an enormous difference
in seating comfort throughout the day.
-Legs and feet-When sitting in the chair your feet should sit flat along the
floor, with the knees creating a 90 degree angle at the joint. This allows
for maximum blood circulation within the legs throughout the.....
- “Leather is always better”. Although leather can
make for a very comfortable seat, more often than not the leather is
very cheap and or isn’t real leather. There are plenty of
modern fabrics and textiles that are either equal to or better than a
typical leather seat. This isn’t to say that leather and even fake
leather is bad, but that other options are just as comfortable.
- “Task chairs are all the same” – Like all things
there is a range in quality and therefore comfort in task chairs.
- “Cheap means bad” – A Cheap chair doesn’t necessarily
mean that it will be uncomfortable. There are plenty of well built cheap
chairs.
- “All chairs follow the same mold” – Some chairs are
simply designed to look good, others to feel good, and some to look and
feel good. It’s important to know what your needs are. If you’re
sitting at a desk all day you should purchase a chair designed for lasting
comfort and ergonomics. If only seated for a few hours design and elegance
may be more your concern. The important thing to remember is that all
chairs do not fit all backs.
- Carefully place your chair on its back.
- Using a rubber mallet gently hit the top side of the caster until it
pops off and discard.
- Place the new caster in its position and gently hit the bottom side
of the caster until it pops in.
- Place the chair back in its upright position and work away.
